A year ago today, Sweets Indeed and The Pixel Studio joined in holy matrimony. I truly married the man of my dreams, my prince charming, and someone who I feel was custom made for me. We shared this special day with friends, family and some amazing vendors. Pizzazzerie will be doing a full post on the wedding with more details so keep your eyes peeled!
I also feel blessed to have grown close to a lot of fabulous people in the industry, blogging community and fans of Sweets Indeed. I decided to give you an little peek as to what a bit of my driving force is. Moments like these are why I love what I do. Weddings, birthdays, births and all the other monumental events in our lives are what I love be part of. It’s the sweet memories that stay with us forever.
It all started with the proposal, which our daughter played a big role in. I really had no clue what was going on as it is a common occurrence for her to “perform” for the whole family.
Our amazing photographer, Jim Kennedy, put together photos from our big day in this video montage.

We love the holiday season and the fact that Halloween is the beginning of all the festive fun!
For this shoot, we wanted to create something that didn’t necessarily scream Halloween but had a subtle creepiness to it. We drew inspiration from the Victorian era and tapped into our inner haunted mansion.
We had the pleasure of using some fabulous pieces from Found Vintage Rentals. The wrought iron gate reminded me of European architecture and the side table, chair, picture frame, urn, and typewriter provided the perfect props for our escort card table. It’s amazing what some vintage props can do. Gorgeous and timeless.
After handcrafting our black lace backdrop and dessert stands, we decided on desserts for the more mature palette and made creme brulee in chocolate dishes, tiramisu, lavender ginger cookies, decorated lemon sugar cookies, monster-tini’s and an assortment of candy take away treats. The two-tiered cake was made by Rebecca Lehman of Heavenscent Cakes and became a focal point for the Sweet Station. We loved the intricate detailing and the perfect color match!
We designed and created all of the paper goods as part of the overall look of this station. Our custom dessert stations come with many of these unique items that we create specifically for your event. The favor boxes, mini treat cups, candy bar wrappers, and flavor tags were a lot of fun to make. Fabulous scrapbook paper, brads, and decorative items help complete the look. We even adorned the center of our candy bar wrappers with a sticker from the Martha Stewart Halloween collection. The coffin candy cases are from her collection as well and can be found at Michael’s.
On the side table set up, we crafted decorative masks and mustaches for the guests to disguise their true goulish identities with. Butterfly and licorice pipe place cards helped them find their seats, and they could leave their wedding wishes for the bride and groom. The custom invitation was made with velvet, damask paper and is one of my favorite elements.
We invite you in for this midnight affair and hope it leaves you with goosebumps. Beware, we caught a ghost in one of the photos. Can you spot him?

On March 21st, I married the man of my dreams, Shannon of The Pixel Studio. Through our planning process we were blessed to come across some amazing vendors. From the start, we knew food and photography were most important to us. Jason’s Catered Events was on the preferred vendors list at The Richard Nixon Library. We had seen Jason’s listed on other preferred vendor lists and decided to give them a try.
Our tasting was held at Jason’s Downtown Venue near the artist village of Santa Ana. The venue is available 7 days a week for private events and is the perfect, chic atmosphere for any celebration. Now on to the food. A-MA-ZING. Our taste bud’s were in heaven as we sampled a range of culinary creations from American cuisine, to Moroccan, Caribbean, and Spanish inspired delicacies. The presentation of each dish was stellar and we were very pleased with our overall experience. I LOVED the coconut shrimp, caribbean rumaki, kalibi beef skewers and the spanakopita.
Natalie Vishny was our direct contact for our caterer and was prompt to respond to any questions. She kept everything organized, helped us pick out linens, and on the day off…was a saving grace. We were truly taken care of. They even make sure the bridal party is catered to during the cocktail hour. We were well taken care of while taking photos and waiting for our grand entrance.
During the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed baked brie and a sundried tomato & basil torte appetizer station. The food during the reception was perfect. We chose penne al fresca and chicken mediterranean. It was sooooo good. I made myself sit down and eat because I did NOT want to miss out. We still have guests telling us that the food was the best they’d ever tasted. I agree!!!
If you are in need of some amazing cuisine, contact Jason’s Catered Events. Thanks to this blog post, I will be craving their food and tuxedo cake for days to come.
We will also be posting photos from our big day and a list of the vendors that we used. We LOVE WEDDINGS!
