We are huge supporters of early education and jumped at the chance to be part of a charity event hosted by the Jayneoni Moore Children’s Fund and Marissa J. Winokur. To help raise reading scores around the country, Tag Reading Systems and school supplies were packaged and shipped to low-income classrooms throughout the U.S.
We had a chance to meet the lovely ladies of Leapfrog and let me just tell you, so sweet! The generosity, enthusiasm and knowledge that came from them was inspiring. There are so many fun, educational products! Target has some great deals and coupons running this week and you can still donate to classrooms in need.
If any of you are teachers, or love arts and crafts, you MUST visit a Lakeshore Learning Center. They have everything from bulletin board decor, crafts, books, to school and art supplies and more. It’s absolute creative heaven!
Now on to the treats! We designed the “cupcake brunch” portion of the event complete with a school themed dessert station and snack station for the kiddies. We wanted to incorporate the “inspire, believe, educate” moto and the importance of reading into the decor. The flavor tags were created to look like the library cards of different children’s books. Hand crafted book cake stands and a cupcake cubby held the carefully decorated mini desserts. We called upon Vanilla Bake Shop for their tasty mini’s and fondant details. The book worms are still my favorite!
Each guest received a re-usable lunch bag full of gourmet popcorn, taffy, chocolates, and other treats. This table and the backdrop were so fun to create!
For the snack station, we went tissue pom crazy and used over sized crayola banks to make a colorful arch decor. The kids decorated re-usable, organic snack bags and filled them with gummy alphabets, goldfish crackers, veggies sticks and decorated cookies. The fruit cups and crayon lolli’s were a huge hit.
You can see a brief article on People.com here and some photos of the lovely Ana Ortiz and Marissa J. Winokur. I also hear that HWTM will be running a post covering the whole event so keep your eyes peeled for that! We hope you enjoy our sweet classroom fun.
