My baby girl turned 6! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone by. To celebrate, we threw together an intimate shin-dig complete with a balloon artist, swimming, and of course, a dessert station. About a month ago, we started working on designs for a signature line of Sweet Stations and decided to use the backdrop and illustrated elements from our Princess Sweet Station for Avalon’s party. Although this station does not contain all of the elements that our Signature Princess Station will, it is a sneak peek of things to come.

The birthday girl was thrilled to see all of her favorite treats. Complete with madeleine cookies, mini hostess cupcakes, marshmallow puffs, Unicorn Candy Kabobs, and custom decorated cookies, this sweet station was calling her name. We centered the Dessert Station around a hand crafted/illustrated hanging princess and custom sweet shoppe sign. The backdrop and detailed elements such as these are part of our Sweets Indeed custom branding and the birthday girl gets to keep personalized items as a memento. We also incorporated damask pink fabric into our custom Table Tutu.

The backdrop was created by covering a 4×6′ piece of foam core or gator board (found at most art supply stores). We covered the front of the foam core with batting (found at fabric stores) and stapled it around the back edge. Next, drape your fabric over the front, smooth out and staple to the back. Your staples won’t go all the way through the foam core. We used a hot glue gun to attach push pins or thumb tacks onto buttons. Measure equal distances apart for the buttons to go and mark each spot. Stick the pushpin buttons through the fabric, batting and foam core at each marked spot. This will give the backdrop a tufted look like that of a fancy headboard. Stand back and be proud of your work. It’s done!

We love to create custom candy or dessert stations for kids parties. It’s important to bring in the personality and favorites of the birthday boy/girl and there is always a new spin that can be created for any theme.

Your work is absolutely AMAZING! I am trying to design a fairy tea party for my daughter’s 4th birthday that is in February. Can you tell me how you designed that beautiful backdrop? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

We can create a custom sign and the banners that are hanging. The backdrop is something that cannot be shipped but, if you’ll email me at marie@sweetsindeed.com, I can tell you some pointers on how to create something similar. We also sell the reusable table tutu’s!

Hi Marie, I am in love with your pink backdrop you used for the candy buffet, but I’m all the way from Australia! Is there any chance you might be able to help give me some pointers on how to create it? It would be gorgeous for my twin girls 5th princess themed birthday party!
